A well-branded homepage helps employees immediately recognize they’re in the right place, reinforces your culture, and sets expectations for how to engage.
This article walks through how to access the branding settings, explains each key element, and shares best practices so your Main homepage looks polished on both desktop and mobile.
1. Accessing Homepage Branding Settings
- Log in as a Super Admin.
- In the main navigation, go to Admin.
- Navigate to Platform Settings → Branding
- From here, you will see 'General'. 'Points', and 'Navigation'. Each section will have information for you to select and update.
If you’re coming from an older, HTML-based homepage, you’ll need to use the newer editor experience to fully control modern branding and layout options.
Core Branding Elements
The exact labels in your environment may vary slightly, but you’ll typically see controls for these core elements:
- Logo and Header
- Primary logo
- Upload a high‑resolution version of your company logo (preferably on a transparent background).
- Make sure the logo is legible on both light and dark backgrounds, depending on your color choices.
- Header appearance
- Check how your logo looks in the top navigation or hero area.
- Ensure there’s enough padding and contrast so the logo doesn’t feel cramped or washed out.
Brand Colors
- In the Branding section, you’ll typically be able to set:
- Primary color – used for buttons, key links, and highlights.
- Secondary/accent colors – used for secondary buttons, badges, or background accents.
- Text and background – default text color and background for content areas.
- Guidelines
- Use colors from your official brand palette so the Community feels like a natural extension of your internal tools and marketing site.
- Maintain sufficient contrast (especially for buttons and body text) to keep the page accessible.
- Keep the number of accent colors small—ideally 1–2—to avoid visual noise
2. Accessing Homepage Editor Settings
- Log in as Super Admin
- In the Main Navigation, go to Admin.
- Navigate to Platform Settings → Homepage Editor
- Your banner image is the largest visual element on the Community homepage and often the first thing users see.
- Choose an image that represents:
- Ensure the file is wide enough to cover large desktop screens without becoming pixelated.
- Keep key content (faces, text, logos) within a “safe” center area so it isn’t cropped out on mobile. If you’re using an internal branding guide for homepage imagery, follow its cropping guidance closely.
- Because the hero scales differently on desktop vs. mobile, it’s normal for the top/bottom edges to crop. When in doubt, favor images that still look good even when trimmed slightly.
Content Blocks & Text Media Widgets
Community homepages can surface text + image content blocks (often called text media widgets or content tiles) that you can customize per group or audience.
Typical use cases:
- Pinned Announcements– A short note with company updates and events.
- How to participate – Quick bullets on posting, recognizing peers, or joining groups.
- Redeeming Points– Options to redeem (e.g., Amazon, Virtual E-gift cards, etc.).
- Upcoming Milestones– Direct buttons to "Recognize a peer for a Anniversary or Birthday".
Branding considerations:
- Use consistent tone and voice that matches your culture (formal vs casual, etc.).
- Keep copy short and scannable; most users will skim these blocks.
- Align imagery with your broader visual identity (photography style, iconography, use of illustrations).
Use this quick checklist before rolling out branding changes to your Company homepage:
- Logo is crisp, on-brand, and clearly visible.
- Primary and secondary colors follow your brand palette and meet contrast standards.
- Banner image looks good on both desktop and mobile, with key content not cropped awkwardly.
- Featured blocks highlight the most important actions and resources.
- Links and buttons are working and labeled clearly.
- Page feels consistent with your main Awardco experience and broader company brand.
Once all items are checked, you’re ready to roll out your branded Community homepage and start driving more engagement across your organization.
